There are many misconceptions that there are only a few select people that are able to unleash their creativity.  This is far from being true.

In fact just like exercising a muscle in the body your creativity needs to be put to the challenge for great results.

Not practicing creative thinking will send this skill into non-existence.  With exercise this is one skill that will become second nature to you.

Want to know how you can unleash your creative thinking?  Your first step is to become a human leech.

No, this is not sucking the blood out of every living thing available; you should absorb and learn as much knowledge as you possibly can.

Read everything you can even if it is good or bad just keep your mind open to all the possibilities that can occur. The more that you know, the more you will want to know.  This will get your brain to start wondering which will be exercised.

Prepare yourself to be amazed at the small things that will brighten your life a bit.

Be creative daily by focusing on a creative activity.  Of course this will take some effort but, doodling can be a creative activity.  Keep at it and do not let anything get in the way of this activity.

Not using the mind could be considered a creative activity however, if you are just starting to unleash your creative thinking, always keep in mind that what you are doing will have results.

Common in our society today are the brain exercises designed to give our mental faculties the boost they need. There are games, activities and all other cranial calisthenics that claim to be helpful in maintaining our brains functioning superbly. Cross Crawls

Cross crawls is a type of exercise that is based on the principle that our nervous system works homolaterally. This means that the left portion of our brain controls the movement of the right portion of our body, and so on for the other half. The principles of kinesiology are also applied in this exercise wherein rhythmic movements are suggested so that the brain’s lateralization can be improved further. You can do this simply by touching your right hand or elbow to your left knee. Do this for several times, and after one side, you may proceed with the other side, doing the same steps.

This exercise, when performed by babies, are believed to realign the brain circuits in order for the left half of the brain to be able to connect with the left part of the body, and vice versa. For the adults, on the other hand, when this exercise is done there is an integration of the different functions and tasks of the brain. This is the reason why this exercise is mostly recommended for people suffering from dyslexia. Aside from this, this exercise is also good for strengthening your immune system’s responses.

4 Steps to Setting up Your Goals in 60 Minutes

I think that most people would agree that the people who have goals are more successful than those who do not have any.

Leadership and management are the keys most talked about.  Leadership is about doing the right things while management is about doing things right. Often when we study time management, we study efficiency (doing things right) and make the assumption that we have the effectiveness (leadership) solved.

The first step in any time management system should be to work on goals and as such, I use the following 60 Minute Goal Setting Exercise.

Step 1: at the top of a blank piece of paper write down “values” and then spend 10 to 15 minutes writing down everything that you value. There is a great website: www.stevepavlina.com/ that has a list of several hundred values to start your mind thinking in the right direction. After the time is up, stop doing this and move to Step 2.

Step 2: at the top of a blank piece of paper write down “lifetime goals”. This is where you can dream; for example, what places would you like to visit; what experiences would you like to have; what would you like to accomplish within your lifetime. This might include traveling to Australia; getting a university degree; living in an X square foot house, etc. There are no rules to this brainstorming – simply make a list.

I have done this goal setting exercise many times and I tend to use the same list of lifetime goals and add to the list each time I do the exercise.

Problem solving is a good way to keep your brain sharp. Once you get familiar with how your biases clog and impede your way of seeing things, get some training on problem solving techniques.  Not only will your stress level go down, you will start to feel empowered. Most people try to avoid problems, but if you are curious on how to generate solutions to things and to try them out.  Then problems become opportunities to make things better. You want to start up a business on the Internet but it has not happened. What can you do to put yourself on the journey to success?

You can identify what is stopping you and take steps to overcome these common but deadly barriers.

Lack of Goals

If you sit down at your computer with the Internet connected with no goals, it is likely you will end up surfing without a purpose.  This is very time consuming.

Decide what you want to achieve, make it as specific as possible and plaster copies of them all over your home so you can not fail to read them at least 5 times a day.

Your mind will start to believe them and if you take active steps to achieve them – they will not be out of your reach.

Lack of Money

Okay for some people this will be a genuine factor but for the majority of us, there is a vice or an activity we can give up, like smoking, the odd bottle of wine or a membership subscription.

Most of us will be able to find something to give up or cut down on for the few months it takes to get started.

The Internet provides so many free resources and is the cheapest way to start a business these days so buckle down the purses or give up a vice and join the ride.

No Research

This is the most deadly barrier.  Because you might think you have an idea for a product but unless you are absolutely sure there is a market for it, you have no assurances of success.

If you have a list you can ask them for their opinions.  Or go onto some of the many forums and ask for people’s opinions and test the water.

Do not create a product and waste precious resources until you are sure there is a market.  Even better create the product after you have investigated a market and know what they want.
